Israel may partially open the Erez crossing Tuesday to let Russians flee from the Gaza Strip, RIA Novosti reported with reference to Russia’s embassy in Israel.

“We were told that Erez crossing could be partially opened today for residents of Russia. A group of employees of Russia’s embassy is going to the checkpoint,” RIA Novosti quoted as saying the press-attaché of Russia’s embassy in Tel-Aviv.

The Russians are leaving the Gaza Strip as the clashes of Hamas and Fatah spiraled out of control there. But Erez that is the sole checkpoint at the Gaza-Israel border remains closed despite that hundreds have gathered there in an effort to flee from the rioting enclave and escape crackdown of Islamists.

The continuously growing evacuation lists set forth over 300 residents of Russia, Belarus, Moldova, Kazakhstan and Ukraine. Most of them are women and their children, who will be first evacuated via Israel to Jordan’s Amman. From there, they will be delivered to the historic motherland by aircraft of Russia’s Emergency Ministry.
